Solving Life’s Problems: Spiritual and Psychological Perspectives

Saturday and Sunday, March 24 and 25, 2012 (10:00am to 5:00pm)

A Weekend Workshop with Wadud Henry Cretella, M.D. and Zaynab Kathleen FitzPatrick, LCSW

Got a life? Then you probably have problems! The exciting interface of spirituality, mysticism, psychology and psychiatry offers various ways to solve them. Together, we will explore ancient and modern perspectives on identifying and working with life’s problems through discussion and experiential exercises, theoretical musings and many practical reviews. This workshop is educational in nature, and does not advocate or replace any treatments, nor suggest treatment itself or imply any sort of therapist-client relationship.

Wadud and Zaynab are Co-Directors of Amber Light International and Senior Teachers in the Sufi Healing Order, Art of Healing Foundation and Sufi Order International, as well as practicing mental health providers.

Doctor Cretella has practiced general and child and adolescent psychiatry for over 30 years. In addition to his studies in Sufism, he has also studied Tibetan Buddhism, Nature traditions, Martial Arts and Qi Gong, with an early religious background in Christianity. He is a minister in the Universal Worship and Sufi Healing Order, a spiritual guide and retreat guide, and is active in all the concentrations of the Sufi Order International. Doctor Cretella has edited two volumes in the Dynamics of Healing Series published by the Art of Healing Foundation: Secrets of the Heart, and The Heart of the Healer. He and Ms. FitzPatrick have produced two CDs of their music and chants: My Longing for Thee and Love is Here.

Ms. FitzPatrick is a licensed clinical Social Worker with over 25 years experience in the mental health field. Originally from a Christian background, she is a minister in the Universal Worship and Sufi Healing Order, a spiritual guide and retreat guide, and active in all the concentrations of the Sufi Order International. Ms. FitzPatrick has studied Martial Arts, Qi Gong, yoga, and aspects of Buddhist and Nature traditions. She edited a soon to be published volume in the Dynamics of Healing Series on Sound.
