Rumi Studies
First and third Sundays of the Month (3:30pm-5:00pm)
With Arsalaan
Jalaluddin Rumi has become one of the most popular poets in the US, renowned for his mystical poetry of love, ecstasy and divine union. Join facilitator Arsalaan Fay and fellow poetry lovers for a lively discussion of Rumi’s spiritual message while enjoying Turkish tea.
Arsalaan, a Mevlevi Sufi, provides poetry translations centered around a theme and music of the ney, an ancient Middle Eastern flute. Open to all. Donations to RTI gratefully accepted.
“The minute I heard my first love story, I started looking for you, not knowing how blind that was.
Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere, they’re in each other all along.”
From Essential Rumi
by Coleman Barks
“With the Beloved’s water of life, no illness remains
In the Beloved’s rose garden of union, no thorn remains.
They say there is a window from one heart to another
How can there be a window where no wall remains?”
From Thief of Sleep
by Shahram Shiva
